With the wounds hidden under her jacket, at least as best as she could hide the fact that she was bleeding, the vibration of each step she took ran through her like a reminder of how injured she was. Her back was starting to kill her with the aching in it from possible broken ribs, even feeling the throbbing of little cuts where pieces of glass were still sticking in. She could even tell that some of them hadn’t fully stopped bleeding either because of the dampness of her vest clinging to her flesh. But most of all, the pain and bleeding was coming from her arm and her side as she kept pushing on through the darkness of the alleyways… moving as fast as she could to get to the town’s hospital before she got to weak to move. Which just made the feeling very unpleasant to say the least and made Lydia irritated that she had left herself open to get this injured. Lucky for her that her clothing was black so she was able to stay hidden; but the fact that she was bleeding still and in pain just irked her to no end.

Silently even cursing at herself about it all… about the failed hunt, the lost fight, and the fact that this Basile bastard got into her head. Pissed off that she now had these images, memories in her head, that she knew weren’t real… that had been planted there by that leech. Why he did it she didn’t know or understand, but he had instead of outright killing her like he had the other two hunters. Was it because she was female and the others had been men? Lydia didn’t know that answer and wasn’t sure if the answer mattered or not.

And with a sigh of minor relief, the huntress saw the hospital just up ahead and continued her way over to it.

Now; at first glance she may have seemed as if she wasn’t injured and had no real reason to be heading towards it. But if somebody gave further inspection of her, there wouldn’t be any real way of hiding the tense way she walked or the blood that was dripping off her left hand… or the fact that she was holding her side with another blood covered hand. So in hopes of avoiding anybody asking questions, or any of the medical staff calling the police since it was required to whenever somebody came in with a gunshot wound, Lydia kept herself out of sight from anybody and found her way into the hospital through the morgue entrance. Quickly making her way to the stairs instead of the elevator to make her way up even if it hurt to trek up like that. And once she found a map within the stairs directing where things were on what floor, the huntress hurried to where the surgeries and medical supplies for that all were to clean herself up. Not realizing she was leaving a small trail of blood as she hurried through the halls and trying not to be seen or noticed by any of the staff.

Getting lucky in being able to slip through the doors of the surgical area right after a nurse had walked out, she was able to find an empty operating room in her search. And with giving a quick look around to make sure nobody saw her, Lydia quickly dipped in and closed the door behind her.

Once within and by herself, not having to worry about anybody else hearing or seeing her, she gave a pained sigh as she moved her hand from her right side to look at the gunshot wound. “Fuck…” she groaned while moving over towards the supplies and starting to pull off her jacket. Giving a hiss of pain because of the slash wound upon her upper left arm and feeling the pieces of glass move in her back. Even letting out another curse of pain as she worked at removing her gun holster before removing her vest. Now standing in just her pants and bra, blood streaking down her back, side, and arm as she began searching for gauze and alcohol to clean her wounds as best as she could. All she had to do was get them patched up enough to get to Seattle and to one of the Sentinel medics… which sounded easier said than done since she was going to have a hard time with the wounds on her back.

Jae had always been a bit of a night owl. He'd wondered ever since he first shifted if it was due to what he was. His father had always been especially productive and energetic at night despite having to work all day. Either way, it was very convenient for his job. If he wasn't just straight out scheduled for overnight shifts at the hospital then he was usually at least on call. Jae could fall asleep easily enough at night but it was all to simple for him to bounce between a dead sleep and wide awake in the middle of the night. Most of the time it was fine, it was only during his days off it seemed to become an issue.

Working tonight, it wasn't really all that busy in the small hospital. They'd had an emergent appendectomy come in but that was about as exciting as it had gotten tonight. He was considering seeing if a couple people wanted to go grab something to eat during the lull when he'd realized he forgot to grab his pager off the OR tray after his last surgery. Usually one of the nurses would have reminded him but he didn't mind the excuse to walk around in the quiet of the OR wing.

Well, it should have been quiet at least. The thing about the rooms here was that they were pretty quiet assuming there were bodies inhabiting them. Empty though, especially for his ears, sound seemed to magnify a little more than it should.

Walking through the hallway he'd thought that he heard some banging and scuffling from one of the empty OR's but it wasn't until he saw the drops of blood on the floor and the red handprint on the door that Jae became a little concerned. He'd heard all about the murders in the town, the whisperings in the supernatural community that they were being targeted. Even so, Jae hadn't really thought this town could be dangerous.

Opening the door gingerly, Jae walked past the scrub sinks and saw the black-clad woman trying to dig out supplies from the cabinets. Entering the OR, Jae was giving the woman a look as she stripped and tried to treat herself. "I think you're a little lost. The ER is down on the ground floor through the main entrance. Maybe you missed it." His tone was guarded and a bit skeptical. How she'd gotten up here with those kind of injuries without anybody noticing he wasn't sure, but he couldn't very well let her leave like that either.

Lydia was no medic, she had no real skills in being any sort of medical assistant or what have you… all she knew was the basic first aid that could get her through until finding a medical professional to properly fix her up. Especially when it came to bullet wounds. Because with having been shot before, she knew what to look for at least to know if she was in grave danger or not. Luckily it seemed that the shot had been a straight through on her side and she didn’t need to have the bullet removed. But Lydia knew that she needed a doc to make sure no organs were hit or that she had internal bleeding. Which was all the more reason to get herself able to make the trip to the safe house and in the hands of a trusted doctor instead of in a public place like this. And with shaky hands because of the pain and adrenaline, she found what she needed and was about to start playing nurse on herself as she opened the alcohol.

Though, suddenly hearing a voice saying she was lost, she naturally reacted by pulling the gun that was in the belt holster at the base of her back. Turning and aiming it at the source of the voice just as fast as she had the weapon in hand. And even though the action made her wince in pain, her hands still shaking a bit while pointing the gun at the person standing there, Lydia fought to keep the pain off her face as she looked him over. Taking in the sight of a handsome asian man standing there looking her over.

She had been hoping that nobody would have found her and that she could get herself patched up before getting out as fast as possible… but it seemed that wouldn’t be the case. And with where she was at, as well as his attire, Lydia had to weigh a guess that the man standing there worked at the hospital. Which just made him an innocent bystander in this that she wasn’t sure what to do about. “Nah I didn’t miss it,” she replied with a small shake of her head and smirk to hide the pain. “I saw it clear as day while I walked right past it and in the back. Not a fan of checking in you could say.” A breath with each word coming out as she was fighting the pain and feeling herself growing weak. Now wondering how much blood she had lost or if she was just starting to go into shock.

And with knowing that she couldn’t just let him walk right back out, and that she wasn’t about to hurt him either, she gave a look to the supplies for a moment before looking back to the guy she was still pointing her gun at.

“You must work here,” Lydia said with a small gesture to his clothing with the gun. “You a doctor?” she even asked. Because with knowing that she wouldn’t be able to get to her back very well without help, she figured that the best way to keep him from calling the cops on her was to get him to help her, or at least try to. Hoping that it wouldn’t be too hard and that she didn’t have to threaten his life. After all, he was just an innocent guy that suddenly found himself in a tight spot because of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. If only he had come in an hour later he wouldn't have a gun pointed at him by a desperate injured woman.

Jae knew it had been risky to come in here as soon as it became apparent this wasn't some random lost patient needing help. He probably should have called security and just kept an eye on her while she wasn't aware he was there, but Jae could tell how bad of shape she was in and didn't know how long he could let her just fumble through bandaging up her wounds that would just bleed through the gauze in minutes.

Raising his hands slowly as she pointed the gun at him, Jae kept his features calm as he watched her. "Take it easy." In a way Jae could understand her guarded jumpy nature right now. She was the predator that had gotten her ass handed to her, maybe by a bigger predator, and Jae had just walked in on her licking her wounds.

"I'm a surgeon. There's no need for weapons, if I was going to call security I would have done it before I even came in here. You left quite the trail." And if she dragged this out, Jae was sure he wouldn't be the only person to see the blood, but he'd be the only one who wouldn't have called security. Taking a couple confident steps towards her, Jae kept his eyes locked to her like the gun didn't even exist.

"I think we both know you're probably not going to be able to make it out of this hospital on your own." He gave her thirty minutes tops, though more likely fifteen, before she passed out if she kept bleeding at this rate. "So why don't you put the gun down and let me help you."

If there was one thing that could get her fur in a ruffle it was to be told to calm down… luckily though that wasn’t exactly how this doc had stated it. Sure she was positive that was what he had meant by saying to take it easy, but she really just took it as him being cautious in return. After all, he was having a gun pointed at him and in a bit of a threatening manner at that. So she refrained from glaring or snapping at him about saying that and instead was trying her best to make her hand stop shaking. Because while she may have had her gun pointed, she really didn’t want to accidentally shoot him since he wasn’t a mark or appearing as any kind of threat at that very moment. Especially as he answered saying he was a surgeon and that security would already be there if he meant to call them. Which made her glance down at the floor and silently curse at seeing the trail she had left before quickly looking back up at the doc.

The urge to step back was there when he took a few steps closer to her, but Lydia stood her ground and listened to him as he said she wasn’t getting out on her own. She knew he was most likely right, but it still made her scowl a bit as he then offered to help her. Making her a little paranoid even if she had already been thinking of telling him to help her.

“Why do you want to help me?” she asked. Mentally kicking herself in knowing she should just accept the help instead of question it. But of course, with her line of work as well as having dealt with some nasty creatures out there, her mind could think of many reasons not to trust the doctor. Sure he might not have called the security, but that was probably because she had a gun. He could always knock her out with some drug while saying it was a painkiller to make it easier for her to be arrested. Though, that didn’t change the fact that she needed his help as she felt her arm having a hard time continuing to hold the gun up due to the gash on it. Or how it hurt to even breath because of the glass in her back and the gunshot to her side. Plus, she was positive now that she had at least a few broken ribs as well with each breath she took.

But it was finding that she was slightly losing balance and had to lean against something. Which made it clear she was starting to get weaker from the pain and blood loss. If she didn’t get help and if they kept standing there talking she was sure to pass out. That made her click the safety back on and drop her arm, letting it relax at her side to stop pointing the gun at him. Giving a sigh and hoping she wasn’t making a mistake of letting him help her as she slipped the gun back in its holster.

Jae raised a brow at her question. Why? They were in a hospital and she wanted to know why he was willing to help her? Did she really not trust anybody then? "Because you're hurt. You need help and I care about the well being of others like any decent person." He wasn't trying to be snarky (maybe a little) but to Jae it seemed obvious that a person would want to help another person if they had the ability to do so. He wasn't naive enough to think that was how the world worked, but he liked to think most people were like that at least. "You really want to question having a surgeon patch you up?"

As soon as the safety clicked and she put the gun away, Jae lowered his arms and went to search for the right supplies. Mostly a lot of gauze, skin glue, and sutchure kits. He didn't expect her to let him stitch all her lacerations but he could probably get away with it on the worse of them and skin glue the rest depending on how worried she was about the possibility of scars. It wouldn't be his proudest of moments, but he didn't take her for a patient woman.

With how bad some of her injuries looked now that he was up close, Jae started to look for something to give her, even if it was just local for her back. "You're not on drugs are you? I'm not judging, I just need to know if you're on anything before I give you something for the pain." He was talking to her as he searched, trusting that she wanted the help more than she wanted to put a bullet in him while his back was turned.

Coming back to the table, Jae snapped on a pair of gloves and gave her a shot for the pain. It wasn't enough to really mess her up, but enough to take most of the edge off of the pain. Looking her over, Jae was making mental notes of the injuries and the bruising on her ribs. He wished he could manage a blood bag to get her in a better place but he wasn't sure he could risk it unless it was an emergency. "If you feel like you're going to pass out, tell me and you can lay down, otherwise it might be better for you to stay sitting."

Leaving the glass for after he'd addressed her open wounds, Jae started getting her cleaned up. "So did the glass door look at you funny? The one you got in a fight with and lost to?" He tried to joke, wondering if it would take or just earn him a snide remark from her. He doubted she'd actually tell him what happened, but that didn't keep him from trying to make up a story anyways.

Okay so maybe the question had been a bit of a paranoid one for her to ask since they were in a hospital, a place where people were supposed to want to help people. But really with how her current state was how could one blame her for asking. Of course that didn’t keep her from giving him a look silently saying touche when he asked was she really going to question him patching her up. Because in truth, he had a point; a surgeon was probably the best one in the whole hospital to be patching her up considering she had a bullet wound in her side. Though, that didn’t keep her from still being paranoid about making the wrong choice as she clicked the safety off and accepted his help with putting the gun away. Something that showed with still keeping her eyes on him and watching as the doc went about grabbing supplies. Even when she slowly moved to sit on the table she didn’t look away.

Yet, she couldn’t help but let a grunt of pain out as she sat down… even gritting her teeth as she finally looked away from the doctor and down at herself. Moving her hand off her right side to look at the hole that was the front of the gunshot; once again silently cursing at herself for getting shot.

Hearing the surgeon’s question about her being on drugs though, Lydia looked back up and gave a small scuff. “Not unless you count an adrenaline rush as drugs Doc,” she answered in her way of saying she was clean as she pressed her hand right back over the gunshot wound. “You think I’d be in this much pain if I was on something? After all, adrenaline can only do so much.” A bit of her own snark coming out as she went back to watching him finish gathering what he needed before coming over to her sitting on the table. And against her better judgement, knowing that she needed some kind of relief from the pain, the huntress didn’t try to pull away as the doc prepped and gave her a shot. A visible sign of the pain lifting as her eyes gave a small flutter shut and she took a slow deep breath in. Even giving a nod when he said she could lay down if she felt like she was about to pass out.

With hearing the doctor asking her about the fight, making a smartss joke about a glass door kicking her ass, Lydia slowly opened her eyes to look at him with a small scuff of a chuckle at his attempt of humor. “More like giving wise-ass cracks,” she replied in half-ass humor about glass. “Though, I wouldn’t say I lost. I’m still in one piece while he’s all broken up over the fight.” Another dumb pun about glass as he was cleaning her up. Because in truth, it was better than telling him what really happened and how she ended up thrown into a window while fighting a vampire.

Wouldn’t want to make the doc think she was crazy after all with talking about fighting an undead man.

Jae raised an eyebrow at her scoff when he asked her if she was on drugs. He had no idea who this woman was, why she was in the shape she was, or why she'd snuck in the hospital rather than go to the ER. Suspicious behavior in the medical field wasn't infrequently linked to people who were drug addicts. "I've seen crazier things. Like I said, I have to ask. Don't want to kill you just because I assumed wrong." The last thing he needed right now was if she was on something and he gave her a shot and her heart or kidneys shut down. This was already going to be hard to explain if he got caught, he didn't need a dead body on top of it.

Once it was obvious that the shot was working, Jae started to clean up her arm and wheeled over the tray he'd set supplies on. At least the stitches would be pretty simple. It was a deep cut but clean and straight; knife or blade he was guessing. He wasn't sure it looked like it was from the same glass in her back. Sitting on a stool and applying a local anesthetic, Jae got out his needle and started to stitch together the large gash in her arm.

Giving a soft laugh as she replied to his joke with some humor of her own, Jae continued to work with a steady hand. "Sounds like you really shattered his ego." He smirked, about half-way through. It was a few minutes later when he finished, erring on the side of caution for some extra stitches to keep bleeding to a minimum. Dressing it, Jae bandaged the area up to keep it clean. "There's your arm. Can I see your side?" He could tell the majority of the blood was coming from there, but felt better working on her side now that the deep wound in her arm was closed.

Once she'd removed her hand, Jae started to clean the area and soak up what blood he could to try and get a better look. "Gunshot? Do you know if the bullet is still in there?" That would change if he could just close it up or if he was going to have to try and get it out first. Getting her input, Jae had her move her arm out of the way and started on her side. "So, since we'll be here for a bit. I doubt I'm going to get a story, but do I at least get a name?"

Even with the urge to say something along the lines of probably seeing crazier things than he had, Lydia instead just kept her mouth shut on that after the doctor said he was just checking to make sure he didn’t kill her because of assuming wrong. In a way, gave him points in her book with being thorough and doing his job. And even though she didn’t fully trust him let alone know him, it did help her relax enough to trust that he would keep her alive in the least. So she did her best at remaining as still as she could as he was going to work on cleaning her wound on her arm before getting it ready for stitches. Knowing that if she moved too much it wouldn’t be a clean and fast process and would end with a jagged scar even if the gash itself was a straight cut. A fact she had learned from personal experience when trying to stitch herself up in her first year of hunting.

But with his remark back about shattering its ego, the huntress couldn’t help in moving a little bit from chuckling and shaking her head at the punny joke before trying to sit still again. Maybe it was the painkillers and after shock of the fight, but she was finding it amusing even if she knew the truth wasn’t as great… knowing that she might have cracked that vampire’s ego with having hurt him but unfortunately did not shatter it. Thinking next time she would have to do just that and break the bastard down before killing him.

With the doc finishing up her arm and asking to get a look at her side, Lydia came out of her thoughts and looked to him before looking down to her hand covering the front of the bullet wound as she pulled it away to show it to him. Watching as blood was still coming out of it a bit more now that she wasn’t putting pressure on it. And with his question of it being a gunshot wound, Lydia felt a snarky reply on the tip of her tongue wanting to come out… giving a sigh in silently telling herself not to be a complete asshole to the man willingly patching her up. “Yea, looks like a gunshot…” she said instead of asking if it looked like a gunshot wound to him. “But who knows it could be a new form of piercing since I believe it went right on through Doc.” Giving a small gesture of her head for him to look at the right side of her lower back to find the exit wound. Not being able to keep all the wiseass cracks in despite doing what he asked in moving her arm to give him better access to patching up the holes.

Though, with moving her arm up to get out of the way, it made a bit of pain come through the drug induced numbing and caused her to take a slow deep breath in as she closed her eyes. Wondering if she should lay down on her other side for this to make it easier on them both instead of resting her forearm on the top of her head to keep her arm up.

Lydia almost missed the question with trying to focus past the pain in her side and ribs from having her arm up to be out of the way. With indeed hearing him since there was no other sound in there but them, she opened her eyes again to look at him while thinking of which name to give him. “Lydia…” she answered instead of saying a false one like she did towards those she didn’t know or trust at all. Though, she didn’t trust him enough to give a last name and instead had a tiny smirk curl on the corner of her lips. “And I could give you a story… doesn’t mean you’ll believe me though.” After all, who would believe her saying she got into a fight with a vampire that she had been stalking and came to Cheshire to kill… only to have her ass thrown through a shop window and then shot. That might get her a trip to the psyche ward if anything. Or a laugh most likely.

Jae was glad that the joking comment back had amused her. It was definitely much nicer to have her laughing and relaxed rather than tense and pointing a gun at him. If nothing else it would help keep her from bleeding out faster.

His question about the gunshot had initially been more to confirm than to ask what it was, but she at least seemed to be curbing her sharp tongue a little for his benefit. Not that he couldn't handle himself in a battle of wits but it made helping her a lot easier if he wasn't having to swim through a sea of sarcasm. "Small miracles." Jae sighed as he checked out the exit wound. It seemed like a clean exit and didn't hit anything below the layer of skin.... but it was still causing an issue with the amount of blood she was losing.

When she raised her arm for him he could see the wave of pain and dizziness hit her. Supporting her with one hand in the middle of her back, the other cradled her raised elbow. "Easy.... how are you doing? Do you need to lay down?" He was having her sit to be cautious of her back while he handled everything else, but he could just as easily work on the gunshot wound with her on her side if need be.

Once they'd settled on her position, Jae repeated the name she'd given him to remember it. "Lydia." letting her have a moment before he started on her side, Jae went and grabbed her some water. "My name is Jae." Whether she wanted it or not, he put the cup on a tray near her and sat back on the stool. Her statement about the story though made him curious. He was sure he could believe a lot more than she realized, but wasn't sure if she was hinting at the supernatural or not.

"You believe it though. Sometimes that's all that matters, is the story you believe in." He'd worked with all kinds of people. Children, soccer moms, schizophrenics, crack heads, your every day people.... All of them had stories and he knew not all of them told him every detail or maybe even the right story. But it was the one they believed and sometimes it told him more than the truth. "Try me." Jae gave her a small smile before starting to clean the first hole and work on closing it. "In the very least it gives us something to talk about while I work."

Small miracles would have indeed been something she agreed with if the fight had gone a bit different… but there was this voice in the back of her head that said the shot was aimed that way. Which would have made that two times that vampire purposely didn’t kill her when he had the chance. Lydia didn’t know why and it bothered her. Mainly because the bastard had kept trying to mention her sister… as if he knew something about her. Which hadn’t felt like a lie and just made her even more confused and annoyed about this Basile; if that was even his real name. Of course, all of that was not something she was going to voice to the doc working at stitching her up. Simply having given a nod as if agreeing with him.

Though it was a bit harder to deny how lucky she was she made it there and was having help when she had raised her arm. Because with the pain and having to breath to not let the lightheadedness get to her, she was starting to realize she would have surely passed out before even finishing taking care of all her wounds if she had tried this herself. And with his question about if she needed to lay down, mirroring her thoughts about asking herself the same, Lydia gave a sigh as if she hated the idea but knew she had to to make this easier. “I probably should… before I fall forward and get a broken nose to deal with too when I hit the floor,” she replied before taking in another slow breath. Readying herself to slowly lay down upon her left side, even carefully moving her arm he just patched up with his help so as to not undo what he just fixed. Giving a small sigh of relief once they were done and she was as comfortable as she was going to get without hurting herself any more.

And after a moment of pushing back that lightheadedness and exchanging names, she gave him a small smile. “Thank you… Jae,” she said; though not specifying if it was for his help or for the water he just sat down. Really though, it was for the fact that he was even helping her instead of calling security on her.

So when the doc replied to her remark about him not believing her, telling her to try him and at least give them something to talk about while they’re there, Lydia gave a small chuckle in knowing he would think she was making it up. But what the hell she figured, it would be amusing to see what he said to why she was all banged up like this. “Okay,” she said with a smirk while still trying to make sure not move while he was working at cleaning the front wound. “I got into a fight with a vampire… and after I tried staking him he threw me through a window and shot me.” It wasn’t a long story, pretty simple and to the point, but that just made it all the more unbelievable really. After all, many people didn’t know or believe that the leeches existed… let alone any other kind of supernatural creature that’s really out there.

Which had her waiting for him to ask if she hit her head or took medication for her mental health if she believed vamps were real.

Jae smiled a little as she agreed to lay down for him before she fell over. "Well, I like to think my reflexes are quick enough I could have caught you before that happened... but, yes, it seems the best idea." A broken nose on top of everything would be a little like salt in the wound so he was glad she was agreeing to lay down for him.

Once his unconventional patient was comfortable on her side and he had found a cushion to prop up her injured arm, Jae set to work on her side. With the through and through the actual work would be a lot simpler and - thankfully for Lydia - a lot less painful. He'd been told that for some, the most painful part of being shot was trying to extract the bullet out after. It could hurt like hell going in but getting it out was a whole other process. This would just be a matter of cleaning and closing and making sure that the bleeding was under control.

To be honest, when Jae had told her to just tell him her story regardless of how crazy it sounded, he hadn't expected the kind of story that she was telling him. "A vampire." The surgeon repeated slowly, his hands moving quickly and deftly as he whipped through the stitches. His father may have been a shifter like himself, but his mother was a witch, a shaman of sorts she like to call herself he supposed. Once his supernatural gifts had made themselves known he'd learned all about the world around him that had been hidden from his eyes. Vampires, Werewolves, Hunters, things that were almost as ancient but far less human...

He knew but hadn't anticipated that she would be involved in that world. "Why would a vampire be carrying a gun? Aren't they supposed to be deadly predators all on their own?" He asked her curiously, both in his own interest of understanding her story and... he supposed, in a way of testing the validity. Whether this was the reaction she expected or not, she wouldn't find him laughing or calling her crazy, tonight.

"Do you pick fights with vampires often?" Was his follow-up, his instincts telling him to be careful with this woman. What if she was a hunter and not just of vampires? He'd heard of the ones that would hunt anything and anyone regardless of whether they were dangerous or not. He only hoped that he wasn't getting himself into trouble with this woman.

With having had a few bullets dug out in her life as a hunter, Lydia was indeed thankful that this gunshot wound was a clean through shot. Because while she knew she could deal with the doctor fishing it out, it was so much better that he didn’t have to as she laid there staying as still as she could. After all, she was positive that she wouldn’t have been able to keep herself from yelling in pain and not draw attention to them. Which was something she didn’t need. Especially with how the conversation was going in actually using truth to seem as if she were lying. Even expecting him to call her liar or laugh at her for saying a vampire as Jae repeated the word and sounded as if he had not been expecting that at all. Which in truth, nobody did unless they were aware of the hidden supernatural world that humans were surrounded by. And as far as she was assuming, he didn’t and was just a normal guy.

Though, she had a moment of being a little surprised by his reaction… or lack of reaction she thought he would have had that is. So when he asked about why a vampire would have a gun, pointing out that they all were said to be deadly without them, Lydia raised a brow and gave a side glance at him in wondering if he actually was believing her or was just going along in asking questions to see what she would say.

“Oh they are. If one isn’t careful they can mindfuck you and kill you before you realize what is happening,” she answered before giving a very small shrug. Knowing that she herself had been in that kind of situation that night, and yet hadn’t been fed on or instantly killed for some reason. But to not think too much on that, and the questions she had about why that was and why Basile shot her instead after she attacked him, Lydia continued to answer his question about why she was shot. “But he didn’t shoot me with his gun… he got his hands on one of mine and shot me with my own gun while we were fighting… then he fucking took it with him when he took off.” Which was highly annoying to her because of not understanding why he didn’t just kill her still.

Jae’s next question though had Lydia wonder just how much she should continue to say… because while thinking he wouldn’t believe her was one thing, she didn’t want to tell him too much about what she actually did. After all, with being a Sentinel, she had to think about not exposing her fellow hunters even if she didn’t think he actually believed her about everything she said. Because his lack of disbelief had her a little more curious on if he knew about that world or if he was just one that let people say what they wanted while patching them up while his patient was drugged on painkillers. “Only when I’m bored,” she answered with a smirk as if she hadn’t attacked Basile with an actual purpose… brushing it off like it had just been a random fight.

But with being curious on his thoughts, Lydia once more looked at him while asking; “You think I'm crazy huh doc?"

Jae welcomed the interesting conversation as he worked on Lydia. He knew that she wasn't likely to ever think he could believe her, and how could blame her, really? If it hadn't been for his mother trying to teach him about the world that he was apart of, Jae's more scientific and logical nature would have likely prevented him from believing in anything he hadn't seen or had proof of. Even now, Jae had never knowingly seen a vampire but knew better than to think that they were still just fiction.

"And by that you mean, what? Illusions? Mind control?" Jae asked her curiously as he worked. Really he was just intrigued at this point and half wondering just how honest she was going to be with him as long as he kept the conversation non-judgmental. The next piece of her story though cause his neutral expression to turn into a bit of an amused grin. "Adding insult to injury it seems." Jae still wasn't quite sure what it was Lydia did and why she had so many guns, but her tone more than suggested how annoyed she was by the whole sequence of events from tonight.

Jae chuckled. "Maybe you should find a less dangerous way to kill time." He finished up her bullet wound and tied off the stitches. "Especially since you're going to need at least a couple weeks to heal before you do anything too crazy." In all honesty Jae still wasn't sure what he believed happened to Lydia tonight, but he was trying to be open and not pin her down just yet.

So when Lydia voiced her question and looked back at him, Jae only cocked an eyebrow at her as he cleaned up some things on his tray and dressed the fresh stitches. "I never said that. I think the story is crazy, but that doesn't mean I think you are." He answered her honestly. "Either way, you don't seem like the type to care what anyone else thinks." Sitting back on the stool a bit, Jae gave her a moment to recoup while he flexed his fingers before he had to start in on her back.

"I need you to lay on your stomach now." The surgeon instructed, shrugging off his white coat, Jae folded up so she could use it for her head if she wanted. "My mom is very old world. I heard a lot of stories about magic and omens and creatures that go bump in the night." Jae offered by way of explanation that made it sound like his mom was simply superstitious and shared that knowledge with him rather than out himself as something other than human. "Whether you're telling the truth or not, it doesn't make you crazy."

Maybe it was because he wasn’t sounding judgemental while listening to her and asking questions, maybe it was because she didn’t even think he would believe anything she was saying, or maybe it was because of the painkillers the doc had given her… whatever it was Lydia was finding herself a little more forthcoming with her honesty about what happened to her. She didn’t even think about how she should be lying to the surgeon right now about it all, and when he asked another question about what she meant by mindfucking she didn’t even think twice about answering him. “Yea… both actually,” she said with a small nod. “There’s more than one thing they can do with our heads. But long story short, unless you’re immune to them they can put you in a coma if they wished.” A thought that could have been something Basile had been trying to do to her tonight… which just made her wonder why he didn’t kill her even more.

But Jae’s remark about the gun kept her from diving into those thoughts even more. Instead giving a very brief chuckle and nod while agreeing with him. “Yea… like salt in the wound.” Which was something she would have to pay him back for the next time she got the chance. Wishing to drive a stake right through his heart and take her gun back.

Though, she was sure that wouldn’t be for a while because of knowing that she was going to be off hunting for at least a few weeks to let her gunshot wound heal. And when the doc said she should find something less dangerous to do for fun, Lydia gave a slight wince in feeling a bit of pain from her ribs through the painkillers as she let out another brief chuckle. Finding it highly amusing how his next words about needing to heal were exactly how her own thoughts had just been. “Don’t worry doc. I don’t even plan on trying to do the waltz any time soon,” she even replied with a small smirk as he finished. Because in truth, she was probably going to be laid up at the safe house she was staying at in Seattle for the first few days… after she found a way to get back to the Sentinel headquarters that is. Even giving thought to boosting a car to get back to the city once she was done there and able to get moving again.

And after she asked Jae if he thought she was crazy, pretty sure he might think she was making it all up since nobody wanted to believe that the supernaturals really existed, Lydia was a little surprised at his answer. Giving a small chuckle again when he said he didn’t think she was one to care what other’s would think anyways. “Normally… but normally I also don’t tell the truth if stuck in a hospital. Quick way to get people to think I’m crazy if I do.” Being way too honest again as she looked down at the bandages he placed over the stitched up gunshot wound. And for a moment, she had nearly forgotten about her back thanks to the painkillers until Jae said he needed her to lay on her stomach.

With a nod, she slowly and carefully rotated herself off her side and onto her stomach to lay her head on the offered makeshift pillow. Though with moving, she was finally feeling the bit of pain in her back again until she was as comfortable as she was going to get. Keeping still as she closed her eyes for a moment and let out a breath she didn’t realizing she had held while moving. And as the doc seemed to continue in answering why he didn’t think she was crazy, Lydia opened her eyes to look at Jae. Smirking a bit in wondering what kind of stories he grew up hearing. “Sounds like interesting bedtime stories,” she even said with a smile. “What kind of stories?” Not sure why she was asking, but kind of enjoying the distraction of talking to him.
